IRON INFUSIONS – FERINJECT
Carlingford Court Medical Centre have GP’s that are your local Hills and Parramatta areas doctors who can provide Ferinject Iron Infusions. Iron infusion is a procedure in which iron is delivered to your body intravenously, meaning into a vein through a needle. This method of delivering medication or supplementation is also known as an intravenous (IV) infusion. Click on this link for further information:
We suggest you do some research about possible reactions, in particular about staining at the site of the infusion.
It is important to be aware that there is a possibility of staining and this is often not listed as a possible side effect from the medication itself. The carboxymaltose product information notes a frequency of 1-10/1000
At Carlingford Court Medical Centre we take all precautions we can to limit any possible staining.
You must see one of our doctors for an appointment to discuss this treatment option prior to the procedure being booked in. We do not accept referrals from outside doctors. If you have blood test results, please bring these with you for the appointment.

If the doctor determines you are eligible for this treatment, you will be given a script to get the Ferinject from a pharmacy. The cost varies between pharmacies, but roughly it is around $40.
The cost to have the infusion at Carlingford Court Medical Centre is $180 (you will receive a Medicare rebate of $73).On weekends the fee is $250.
